04-11-11 | Bob Engnath Custom

OK boys, it's drooling time. Just finished up this incredible custom katana. The blade has been made by US sword smith Bob Engnath and used are 'wrought iron' blade fittings made by the master himself: Patrick Hastings (well, one the the masters :)).

ps. the last picture of the kissaki is definitely not my work but the work of polisher Chris Osborne. Just wanted to share that with you all.

03-24-11 | New products

Due to some demands we've decided to add sword travelling bags to our portfolio. We currently have two high quality (faux) leather models, for one and two swords (or bokken) in stock.

Also new are Himitsu Bako. These small, very cool Japanese puzzle boxes were mainly used in Edo period and can only be opened by sliding the hidden panels in a certain order.

Klik on the images to go to their respective category.

27-08-10 | The first video blog
About how to remove the tsuka from a Japanese sword. Enjoy!

21-08-10 | Token Taikai
From August 20th until 22nd there is a very special exposition in the SieboldHuis in Leiden (The Netherlands). After reading the description on the flyer you immediately understand that - as a swordlover - you should definitely be here:

"The oldest sword in the exposition dates back to the 14th centry and is indentified by the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo as being made by the Hasabe School. This school was founded by Hasabe Kunishige, one of the students of Masamune, the greatest Japanese sword smith of all times.

The youngest sword was forged by the Mukansa sword smith Ono Yoshimitsu in 2007. A Mukansa sword smith is considered the best of the best of sword smiths and are greatly respected in Japan."

Definitely worth checking out! Osu!

edit: I already have visited the exposition today and would like to show some blades which are on display. During the day I also had the chance to view a very nice demonstration of Katori Shinto Ryu shidosha Erik Louw. Tomorrow will be the last day so every clear their agenda and get going!

ps. The entrance fee is 7,50 euro so that's no reason not to go.

10-08-10 | Ishido Iaido seminar
The Ishido summer seminar is one of the largest Iaido events of the Benelux.
For 6 days, Ishido Shizufumi, or Ishido sensei offers personal training on Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido and Jodo. Of course The Samurai Workshop was here to enjoy the show (too bad not the training).

Lots of old and news friends but even more: SWORDS!

August 18th 2010
Lot's of updates going on in both the system as well as the product descriptions.
